Sony is about to roll out Android 10 upgrade which is the latest Android Operating System on its mobile phones’ but not all the models of the Japanese Tech giant are lucky enough to get the upgrade. What? You ask! Well, here’s the gossip. The new Android Operating System has been available for as long as 2 months and most of the tech giants’ which includes Google, Essential, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Nokia has already shuffled it officially to their devices.
While Samsung, Huawei and LG have started trial and testing for its devices before they roll it out officially. But there hadn’t been any signs or news from Sony on this part, but you know what, ‘Toutes nos félicitations’. In the recent blog of Sony, the company confirmed the Android 10 upgrade for its mobile phones.
What’s the big deal? Duh! The catch is that not all its mobile series is getting this upgrade. Just like a list of Do’s and Don’ts, Sony has released a list of the phones which will be getting this upgrade and which will not. Didn’t catch it! Well, here’s the company post directly from Sony Blog post at your service_
“Google has announced Android 10, so you’re probably wondering when your trusty Xperia device will get the shiny new upgrade. Well, look no further than this blog – as we have all the news you’re waiting for!
Owners of Sony’s premium flagship Xperia 1 and recently announced Xperia 5 will be among the first to receive the new tech, which will be available this December.
Owners of Xperia 10, 10 Plus, XZ2, XZ2 Compact, XZ2 Premium and XZ3 devices can expect to access the upgrade early 2020 onwards*.”
Hence, only two of Sony Xperia Series, Xperia 5 and Xperia 1 are getting the Christmas gift (Android 10 upgrade) that is in December 2019. While others’ which are Xperia 10, Xperia 10 Plus, Xperia XZ2, Xperia XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ2 Premium and Xperia XZ will be getting Android 10 as New Year gift that is in early 2020.
And those who won’t be getting any Android 10 upgrade are Xperia XZ1, and earlier Xperia XZ Premium launched back in 2017. It’s very tech breaking news that these models won’t be getting any upgrade and will have to work on the older version of Android Operating system which is Android 9 Pie. Even though at the time of their launch, they rolled out with Android 8 operating system which is ‘Oreo’. That means this two versions of Sony Mobile Phones got only one Android upgrade which was Android 9 Pie.
Well, nothing can be done on this part, for Sony doesn’t guarantee any ‘two-year support’ from its side to any of its mobile phones version. Although some of the tech giant’s older version might be still technically sufficient to run on the latest Android 10 upgrade.
Although Android 10 can always be installed on these devices’ unofficially. And of course, for those versions, who are getting the upgrade must not be too giddy as the company has only given a tentative time notification and still not has specified when exactly it will be rolling out the upgrade for the given Sony phones.
